About Wendi Maurer
Dr. Maurer earned her undergraduate degree at Indiana University in Folklore where she specialized in family and community values and morals passed down orally through life’s generations. She achieved her PhD in Clinical Psychology at Alliant University in San Diego in 1990; her dissertation study was in healthy coping skills and meaning in life. Her current specialities include:
Empower oneself to discover more clearly, more deeply what brings joy and meaning.
Stress management and life transitions and retirement.
Disability Assessments and therapy for NFL players.
Couples therapy
Grief and loss - including death of a loved one, hearing loss, traumatic change in health, occupation, retirement.
Depression and Anxiety.
Life threatening events such as workplace critical incidents, human errors, human violence, war, fear, and natural disasters.
Training and twenty years of experience in Critical Incident Briefing (CID).
Disaster Response, including American Red Cross (ARC). Dr. Maurer has over 12 years of direct experience working with, chairing and doing trainings for the San Diego and Imperial Valley American Red Cross Disaster Mental Health Services.
Certified Focusing-Oriented-Psychologist and Trainer (FOT) with over twenty five years of training and experience.
Dr Maurer also teaches classes and has therapy groups in: Focusing skills and Philosophy, Thinking At the Edge; Pregnancy: It's My Life; Living with Hearing Loss; Compassion Fatigue;Helping Therapists During War, Disaster Response Preparedness at home and on the job, and Critical Incident Debriefing in the work place.
